Senior Tax Analyst

An established and expanding organization is looking to add a Senior Tax Analyst to its finance team. This position will play a key role in maintaining compliance across a multi-state footprint, with a strong emphasis on indirect taxand meaningful involvement in income tax reporting.

This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys owning processes, working cross-functionally, and contributing to a scalable tax function within a growing business.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including managing filings, reviewing outputs, and ensuring accuracy of underlying data.
  • Support income tax processes, including preparation and review of workpapers tied to federal and state filings completed by external providers.
  • Work closely with the accounting team to align tax-related entries during close, including accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with audit activity and tax-related inquiries by compiling support, coordinating with advisors, and helping drive timely resolution.
  • Stay current on evolving tax regulations and evaluate potential implications, particularly within indirect and state income tax areas.
  • Perform technical research and clearly summarize conclusions for internal stakeholders.
  • Help enhance tax processes through improved documentation, automation opportunities, and strengthening of internal controls.
  • Partner with finance and operational teams to ensure consistent application of tax treatment across the business.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • 4-6+ years of experience in tax, either within public accounting, industry, or a blend of both.
  • Demonstrated experience handling sales and use tax filings and compliance in a multi-state environment.
  • Exposure to corporate income tax, including involvement in return preparation or review.
  • Comfortable working with third-party providers and managing deliverables.
  • CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tax engines or compliance tools (such as Avalara, Vertex, or similar) preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
