As Senior Director of Indirect Procurement, this role shapes how the company partners with suppliers worldwide, drives enterprise value, and enables business leaders to move faster and smarter. This is an opportunity to lead transformation at scale, influence executive decision-making, and build a best-in-class global procurement organization aligned to Ciena's long-term strategy.

How you will make an impact:

  • Lead and develop a global Indirect Procurement organization, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation

  • Serve as the strategic face of Indirect Procurement, building trusted partnerships with senior leaders and executives

  • Define and execute a global Indirect Procurement strategy aligned to Ciena's business and financial objectives

  • Leverage market intelligence and industry trends to identify opportunities, mitigate risk, and optimize spend

  • Establish procurement policies, tools, and technologies that improve transparency, efficiency, and compliance

  • Partner with Finance and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to deliver annual savings commitments and measurable value

  • Advance enterprise initiatives across sustainability, supplier diversity, and supplier risk management

The must haves:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

  • Experience: Minimum of 20 years of experience in Procurement

  • Leadership Experience: 7+ years of leadership experience in senior procurement roles within a global organization, with demonstrated success coaching high-performing teams and driving transformation

  • Executive Influence: Proven ability to influence and engage senior leaders in complex, matrixed environments to deliver measurable business outcomes

  • Communication Skills: Polished communicator with experience developing and delivering presentations to varied audiences

  • Collaboration: Highly collaborative relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills and a track record of effective stakeholder engagement

  • Supplier Management: Deep expertise in supplier negotiation, contract management, and collaborative supplier relationships

  • Analytics & Technology: Proficiency in data analytics and procurement technologies, including Power BI, Oracle, and Excel

  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial statements and key business performance drivers

Nice to haves:

  • Education: Master's degree in Business Management, Finance, Supply Chain Management strongly preferred

  • Certifications: Advanced procurement or supply chain certifications (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management [CPSM], Certified Supply Chain Professional [CSCP])

  • Source-to-Pay Expertise: Experience implementing or operating source-to-pay technologies, including e-sourcing, contract lifecycle management, and spend analytics tools

  • Strategic Programs: Demonstrated success leading sustainability, supplier diversity, or supplier risk initiatives

Pay Range:

The salary range for this role in the USA is $181, 000 - $289, 100

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
