Bridge Inspection Technologist II

We're looking for a Bridge Inspection Technologist II to join our North Carolina team and be part of a team helping keep North Carolina's bridges and transportation infrastructure safe and reliable. In this role, you'll work alongside the Team Leader to perform detailed inspections of bridges and other highway structures, identify and document structural conditions, take precise measurements, and prepare reports that support decisions around the safety, integrity, and long-term maintenance of these structures.

This is a hands-on, field-based role where no two days are exactly alike. You'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of structures, use specialized inspection equipment, and work in environments that may include heights, slopes, traffic, confined spaces, and areas above water. You'll also help plan inspection activities, train new inspectors, and support additional field assessments and project needs as they arise.

If you enjoy hands-on technical work, being outdoors, solving problems, and seeing the impact of your work firsthand, this is an opportunity to build specialized experience while contributing to infrastructure that communities rely on every day.

Location

This position is based out of our Raleigh, NC office and follows a hybrid work schedule. Bridge inspection projects will take you throughout North Carolina and may require regular overnight travel. There may also be opportunities to support bridge inspection projects outside of North Carolina.

  • Experience with drafting, sketching, and technical report writing
  • Ability to travel and drive independently to project locations
  • Experience with the NCDOT WIGINS system is preferred, but not required

What We're Looking For

  • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology from an appropriately accredited institution, or a high school diploma/GED
  • Two (2) years of progressive experience in the inspection, construction, design, or maintenance of steel or concrete bridges, related construction activities, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and directly related experience
  • Previous bridge safety inspection experience is preferred
  • Someone who is comfortable working outdoors and in physically demanding environments
  • A detail-oriented team player who takes pride in accurate field observations, documentation, and reporting
  • Someone who is ready to learn, take on responsibility, and grow their expertise in bridge inspection #LI-MM1
