Description

Under the guidance of the UCLA Head Start and Early Head
Start Executive Director, the Finance Analyst provides both specific and broad
financial, accounting, and analytical support to advance the program's mission.
The analyst is responsible for developing administrative structures and
business office systems to ensure compliance with University policies,
procedures, standards, and regulations. They participate in the development of
long-range goals, action plans, and budgets. The role includes preparing monthly
and/or quarterly financial statements for all applicable funds, covering both
department-level and faculty financial reporting.

The Financial Analyst assists in preparing the department's
annual budget for submission to the School of Medicine and develops both
detailed and comprehensive financial projections, offering insights into the
department's overall financial health. This position analyzes, reviews, and
audits data and expenditures to generate budget and variance analyses for the
department. Financial activity is reconciled against the general ledger, with
errors identified and corrected as necessary. The analyst also supports the
maintenance of capital equipment asset records and ensures the reconciliation
of departmental asset records with campus records.

This is a limited position, may convert to career.

Salary Range: $36.79 - $55.78 Hourly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education
    and experience.

  • 1- 3
    years of experience in financial management.
  • Ability to recognize implications, propose alternatives and
    recommendations, and implement solutions, analyze information to determine
    programmatic needs.
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a
    timely manner when there are changes in workload, changes in assignments, and a
    heavy workload.
  • Skill in using Excel or other spreadsheet programs and
    database systems.
  • Demonstrated writing skills to compose logical,
    comprehensive, and grammatically correct correspondence, procedures, and
    reports.
  • Knowledge of university financial ledgers and accounting
    procedures.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of principles of accounting and financial
    management. Demonstrated skill in financial analysis, planning, preparation,
    and administration of budget with multiple funding sources
  • Skill in budget preparation and management, preparation of
    financial reports.
