Geotechnical Operations Manager

S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate Geotechnical Operations Manager to join our Geotechnical team in Duluth, Georgia. Join us at S&ME!

As a Geotechnical Operations Manager, you will take on a key leadership role focused on advancing a wide range of projects, developing and mentoring emerging technical talent, and deepening client relationships. This position provides the opportunity to influence operational performance across multiple service areas and offices while working alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

You Day-to-Day:



  • Leadership & Office Operations: Provide leadership and guidance to a multidisciplinary team while managing day-to-day office activities, including project delivery, business development efforts, safety and quality initiatives, financial results, personnel management, and risk oversight.
  • Strategic Direction: Collaborate with other leaders to develop and execute the annual business plan while helping shape long-term strategies that support office performance and market expansion.
  • Project Oversight: Manage geotechnical investigation projects of varying scope and complexity, develop proposals and technical reports, and ensure all work aligns with S&ME's established standards and expectations.
  • Client Development & Growth: Strengthen existing client partnerships, pursue cross-selling opportunities across service lines, and leverage company resources to generate new and repeat business.
  • Industry Involvement: Foster and maintain meaningful relationships within the industry by participating in professional associations and events that increase S&ME's brand recognition and presence in the marketplace.



What You Bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or a Construction related field, preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in Operational and/or Project Management, experience within the A/E/C industry
  • Experienced background in building and maintaining client relationships, with a proven ability to grow business by winning work and expanding backlog
  • Ability and desire to divide time between the office and regular site visits in the field to support and engage field staff
