Your Opportunity

The Director of Supply Chain Finance will lead the supply chain finance team and functions for Smithfield Foods. This position will be responsible for reporting and analyzing supply chain operating results and leading the financial planning process related to supply chain operations. Additionally, this position will ensure that proper financial, operational and compliance controls are in place within the organization.

Core Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor direct reports by providing developmental opportunities, performance management, talent management and individual development plans.

  • Work as a key integrated team player within the supply chain team (including inventory management, warehousing, transportation and supply planning activities) to identify and take advantage of opportunities for performance or financial improvement, with an emphasis on supply chain optimization.

  • Lead the annual supply chain budgeting process working cross functionally to develop budgets, cost savings projects and annual cost standards.

  • Provide timely and accurate reporting and analysis of operating results to senior operations and finance leadership.

  • Manage the communication flows to the business of cost changes, cost impacts and projected market impacts.

  • Lead financial process for creating and delivering supply chain capital plan and analyzing their financial impact.

  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to identify and recommend process improvements that will deliver financial benefits or mitigate financial risks for inventory, warehousing and transportation activities.

  • Work with the Information Technology team in identifying and implementing enhancements to core operations and financial support systems, and partner with the Financial Data Analytics team to support the business with timely visibility to financial and operational performance/opportunities.

  • Enforce and maintain our culture focused on financial controls that are communicated and implemented across the platform in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 and Company objectives.

  • Drive initiatives, as implemented by Senior Leadership.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or equivalent from a regionally accredited four-year college or university, and 10+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • Minimum of 7+ years' experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.

  • CPA or MBA, a plus.

  • SAP experience, preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel.

  • Thorough knowledge of financial and business principles.

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.

  • Proactive and solution-oriented.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong self-motivation and organization skills.

  • Displays professionalism and integrity.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • May travel to plant locations or corporate up to 10-20%.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervision of Supply Chain Finance and Inventory staff.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
