Job Description

This position travels between our two sites in Tilton and Franklin. Schedule: Monday - Friday: 12pm - 8pm.

Compensation Range: $18.50/h - $21.00/h *Dependent on Expierence*

SUMMARY:

The Custodian keeps buildings in clean and orderly condition, with particular focus on common areas of use at both sites of the plant. The position is responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. This role helps foster a clean and safe work environment that enhances employee morale and productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms; clean fixtures, mirrors, wipe down walls, doors, door jams, sweep and mop daily. Stock supplies as needed.
  • Clean cafeterias, microwaves, and refrigerators. Clean fixtures, wipe down walls, doors, door jams, sweep and mop daily. Stock supplies as needed.
  • Order supplies and equipment needed for restrooms, cafeterias, general cleaning, and minor maintenance duties.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Clean building lobbies, entryways, windows, walkways, and facades.
  • Dust common office areas, including monitor screens, office partitions, office/conference tables, and counters.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing, or scrubbing as appropriate.
  • Perform regular, periodic carpet cleaning of walkways and major areas. Annually or as needed, clean all carpeted areas with steam cleaner. Coordinate floor scrubbing as needed with the 6-S Specialist.
  • When able, assist Maintenance to remove snow from walkways and parking areas using a snow shovel, snow blower or hand salt spreader.
  • When able, assist 6-S Specialist and Maintenance in light building maintenance such as painting, construction clean up, etc. Collaborate effectively across departments to plan and prioritize work.
  • Support special projects, including event preparation, maintenance shutdowns, and facility improvements. Seek opportunities to enhance cleanliness and order.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must comply with all applicable safety requirements, policies, and procedures, while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment. Must have a safety mindset and promote a safe work environment.
  • Must report any work-related injury or illness immediately to your direct supervisor.
  • Must participate in required training, medical monitoring, and safety & health evaluations and programs.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all designated areas of facility.
  • Must have comfort to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and activity.
  • Able to perform all physical functions of position which may include frequently standing, walking, twisting, turning, talking, and/or hearing. The Custodian is occasionally required to sit, kneel, stoop, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Meet established attendance standards.
  • Work off-shift, weekends, or overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • This position supports both sites and must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Organized and self-motivated; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Takes ownership of assigned areas and tasks.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; good time management skills are important.
  • Positive attitude and reliable attendance are essential.
  • Complies with corporate guidelines and legal requirements on business ethics and Code of Conduct.
