ABOUT THE ROLE

A Maintenance Technician is a skilled professional with a practical mindset and strong attention to detail. This role is responsible for performing mechanical and electrical repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and plant systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The goal is to maintain buildings, equipment, and production systems to consistently meet customer demands.

Salary range $27.20-$37.20 an hour. Based on location and experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment including cranes, forklifts, skid steers, trucks, loaders, and excavators
  • Perform preventative maintenance and major component repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems for heavy equipment
  • Inspect, service, and maintain heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation and minimize downtime
  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on manufacturing equipment and plant systems including conveyors, mixers, electrical distribution, HVAC, and automation controls
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair needs in a timely manner
  • Operate heavy equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, and yard vehicles as needed
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals for both heavy equipment and plant systems
  • Ensure all equipment is tested, compliant, and safe prior to returning to service while maintaining accurate maintenance records and a clean, safe work environment


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Maintenance Technician with strong mechanical, electrical, and diesel knowledge, capable of diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and plant systems with confidence. They are a proactive problem solver who can adapt to changing priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate effectively as part of a team. This individual takes pride in their work, communicates clearly, and consistently applies their technical expertise to maintain safe, efficient operations.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE



  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in diesel maintenance, heavy equipment mechanic work, and mechanical repair/troubleshooting
  • Experience with heavy equipment and/or industrial manufacturing environments
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and diesel systems (including hydraulics and pneumatics)
  • Ability to diagnose and repair equipment issues efficiently
  • Experience operating cranes, forklifts, or similar equipment preferred
  • Basic welding and fabrication experience is a plus
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical manuals
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work indoors/outdoors and in varying conditions


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors year-round
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
