DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform comprehensive repairs and upkeep for buildings, grounds, and equipment. Your duties will include skilled carpentry such as repairing doors and fabricating partitions, as well as the installation and maintenance of electrical circuits, lighting, and motors. You will manage plumbing systems by installing fixtures, clearing drains, and maintaining steam and water lines. Additionally, you will service heating and air-conditioning units, repair commercial kitchen appliances, and maintain various refrigeration systems. Your technical responsibilities extend to masonry work for foundations and walkways, roof and gutter repairs, and the consistent upkeep of the facility's lawns. In this role, you will ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for the home's residents and staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week)
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (1st shift), rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement:
  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.


Additional Requirements:
  • You must be willing and able to work in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
  • Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades
  • Experience in commercial and structural maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring including emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears, and 3-phase panels
  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC) as it relates to repair of buildings
  • Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
  • Experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings at a long-term care facility.
