The Medical Assistant provides high-quality patient care through direct and/or telephone contact, following established clinical standards and practices. This role partners closely with physicians and the care team to ensure seamless care delivery, solid coordination, and active patient engagement in care planning. The Medical Assistant also supports providers with clinical procedures and daily operational needs.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday: 9:00am-5:00pm
  • Tuesdays: 11:00am-7:00pm
  • No weekends

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate clinical competence in direct patient care and assistance with provider procedures
  • Perform clinical duties within scope of practice, adhering to Optum NY standards, policies, and protocols
  • Take a proactive, patient-centered approach to care, addressing individual and family needs at the time of service
  • Escort patients to exam rooms efficiently and prepare them for visits
  • Assist physicians and other licensed providers during exams, diagnostic procedures, and treatments
  • Accurately perform authorized clinical procedures, including vital signs, vision screening, and select laboratory testing
  • Seek guidance and validation from physicians or licensed staff when appropriate
  • Prepare e-prescriptions for provider review in accordance with Optum NY policy
  • Clean, prepare, and process instruments and equipment per manufacturer and Optum NY guidelines
  • Process and label specimens for laboratory transport and ensure corresponding orders are entered in NextGen

Required Qualification:

  • Current Nationally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $22.00 to $27.25 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
