They could be floating to another PSC at 8601 Village Drive San Antonio, few miles away from Toepperwein PSC
Orientation and training:
11603 Crosswinds Way San Antonio for a week with a trainer 2nd week at Village Drive location
Schedule: M-F 8am-5pm
Required Vaccinations: MMR, Varicella, Hep B (Candidate can decline Hep B), TB, color vision is required.

Required skills:

Comfortable drawing alone and doing hard sticks

Drawing on all ages


Position Summary

The Phlebotomist II is responsible for performing venipuncture and specimen collection while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with established laboratory protocols. The role includes assisting with workflow improvements, troubleshooting, and maintaining specimen integrity in a high-volume clinical environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles
  • Collect additional specimens (urine, fecal, etc.) as required
  • Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and store specimens per test requirements
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes with 100% accuracy
  • Ensure proper specimen handling and temperature control during storage and transport
  • Package specimens for shipment according to protocol
  • Update and verify patient information in systems
  • Record maintenance data and perform equipment decontamination
  • Understand and follow physician orders accurately
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department trainings
  • Answer telephone inquiries and relay laboratory results as needed
  • Provide clear and courteous explanations to patients regarding procedures



Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification (as required by state regulations)
  • Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
  • 2-4 years of overall relevant experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
