DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will plan, direct, and manage the highway equipment maintenance program for a County Maintenance Organization. Your responsibilities include developing and monitoring the county's fleet model and budget, overseeing the maintenance, repair, and dispatch of heavy construction and automotive equipment, and supervising mechanic supervisors and shop personnel. You will also ensure that all buildings, grounds, stockpiles, and equipment-related facilities are properly maintained. A key part of the job is preparing and administering a preventative maintenance program for both equipment and buildings, reviewing the work of garage staff, and inspecting equipment to determine repair or replacement needs. You will manage several important administrative and safety programs, including the county's equipment operator training, testing, and certification program, where you will serve as a certified 3rd-party CDL examiner and equipment certifier. You will also oversee the CDL Drug and Alcohol Testing Program to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Highway Equipment Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and other components of heavy highway maintenance and construction vehicles and equipment including two years of such experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License which is not under suspension with Air Brake restriction removed.
- This position requires possession of a valid Class 4 or Class 7 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification by end of probationary period.
- This position requires one year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
