THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services (DHS), Wernersville State Hospital is seeking full-time Food Service Workers to be a part of our Dietary Team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Worker 1, you will serve appetizing and nutritional meals to consumers and support goals that maintain a safe, clean, and pleasant dining environment. You will grill, toast, dice, and peel food in preparation of daily meals. You will pour beverages, plate salads, set up serving counters, and follow portion control sheets. You will also clean food service counters, scrape and pre-soak dishes, and operate a dishwasher. By providing food supplements, juice, and snacks to wards, you will delivery comfort as well as brighten someone's day. In addition, you will attend meetings and in-service training, participate in special occasion food service, and adhere to safety rules and regulations in order to prevent accidents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with two paid 15-minute breaks and no paid lunch. Your schedule will consist of 10 working days within a 14-day period, including every other weekend.
  • Overtime as needed
  • Free parking
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $37,660.00 (before taxes).
