Interventional ACHD Physician Assistant

Come join our dynamic, highly skilled Interventional Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) team! Interventional Cardiology is a subspecialty focused on catheter-based diagnostic tests and interventions including closure of septal defects, angioplasty and stenting of arteries, valve replacements and recanalization of obstructed vessels or valves . The Interventional Cardiology Physician Assistant (PA) is an inpatient and outpatient hybrid role who has clinical, procedural, administrative and educational responsibilities in the care of patients requiring medical management of ACHD , procedures related to the care and coordination of chronic care management of ACHD diagnoses.

Requirements:

Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-P

  • Three (3) years related experience as a PA
  • Two (2) years Ambulatory Cardiology PA experience or a combination of Ambulatory and Inpatient Cardiology experience
  • Two (2) years PA experience in related ICU heart and vascular services (ie: ACHD, valve and structural heart, cardiac surgery, electrophysiology and heart failure

Preferred:

One (1 )year PA experience in General Cardiology or Cardiology Sub-specialty (ACHD) in the ambulatory setting

  • Ambulatory Epic experience in the Advance Practice Provider role
  • Advanced cardiac assessment skills - reviewing EKGs, heart sounds, and recognizing signs of acute and chronic cardiovascular conditi
  • Understanding cardiac procedures and tests - stress testing, echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, Holter monitoring, etc.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular pharmacology - understanding cardiac medications, their interactions, and side effects (e.g., anticoagulants, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors)
  • Management of ACHD and chronic cardiac conditions - such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertension, arrhythmias, and hyperlipidemia

License/Certifications:

  • California Physician Assistant (PA) License without restriction
  • National Board Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • California Driver License (if required for position)
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Additional required AHA certifications: ACLS
  • Additional required certifications (such as ENLS): XXX

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.

Salary Information


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.


Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
