The Academic Personnel Analyst 2 applies professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and / or system wide policies, and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity. Academic Personnel Analyst 2 will work with client departments to facilitate their Academic Personnel business needs, be responsive, identify problems, assist with resolution of routine issues, and analyzes moderately complex issues to recommend solutions. The individual will also coordinate with schools, business units, and specialty centers to deliver efficient and effective personnel services, while ensuring compliance with UCSF policy and procedures. The position will support the onboarding of over 600 Residents and Clinical Fellows and 400 Graduate Student Researchers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • One (1) or more year(s) of related experience
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR
  • Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems
  • Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs / unit management
  • Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of employment eligibility verification requirements (federal I-9 regulations). Understanding of legal and compliance implications of personnel decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies
  • Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served
