The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for all aspects of more complex Project Management, including monitoring construction contract compliance and coordination of services in support of the campus departments to ensure the construction phases of projects are on schedule, high-quality, cost-effective, and appropriate to the project needs. This involves all elements of Project Management from cost estimating through construction closeout, including initial budgeting, safety compliance, and contract compliance. The PM works with the Program Managers, Senior Project Managers and Construction Managers to organize, plan, and control the construction efforts on projects. This involves selecting general contractors and subcontractors and coordinating construction activities on multiple project sites, including construction inspectors and others associated with the projects.
| Required Qualifications : |
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience/training
- 5+ years of relevant progressive experience
- Advanced knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration and California Building Codes, including advanced understanding of industry practices, or deep expertise in a highly specialized and critical discipline
- Advanced construction project management skills to effectively manage highly complex projects, or highly specialized and critical project component
- Advanced analytical, organizational and problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills.
- Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including highly effective negotiation skills and highly developed political acumen
- Advanced ability to manage contractors and maintain compliance to the agreed-upon scope of work and budget
- Experience leading multi-discipline project groups on large complex projects or programs
- Ability to work at various campus locations in a timely manner

| Preferred Qualifications : |
- Eight (8) years of experience in managing building renovation, major maintenance, facilities systems upgrades, and construction projects / or an equivalent combination of education and experience / training
- Advanced knowledge of the organization, including its infrastructure, rules, regulations, policies and short and long range strategic building plans
- Thorough knowledge and experience with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
- University, Research Laboratory/ or Medical Center experience
- Professional license in Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or Foreman level or higher in related Building Trades or Stationary Engineering License
- Valid driver's license
- LEED Accreditation
