The Ultrasound Advanced Practice Provider (US-APP) functions as a highly specialized clinical provider within the Division of Ultrasound, supporting diagnostic and image-guided procedural services. The US-APP practices in collaboration with and under the supervision of board-certified radiologists, contributing to high-quality, patient-centered imaging care across inpatient and outpatient settings. The US-APP enhances service efficiency, procedural access, workflow coordination, and quality assurance while maintaining compliance with departmental, institutional, and regulatory standards. Requirements: Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-PA). Five (5) years clinical PA experience with 2 of those years in a procedural, acute care, or specialty setting (e.g., radiology, interventional radiology, surgery, hospital medicine, critical care, oncology, or similar). Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an academic medical center or large integrated health system. Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique, infection prevention, and safe performance of invasive procedures. Ability to perform focused pre-procedure assessments and post-procedure monitoring Demonstrated sterile technique and procedural skill. Prior independent performance of paracentesis and thoracentesis. Prior ultrasound-guided biopsy experience. License/ Certifications: 1. California Physician Assistant (PA) License without restriction 2. National Board Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) 3. California Driver License (if required for position) 4. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address 5. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification 6. Additional required AHA certifications: ACLS 7. Additional required certifications (such as ENLS):None UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
