DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, the Pharmacist II is responsible for provision and documentation of medications and medication-related services to patients according to standards established by the Department of Pharmacy. The Pharmacist II will serve as preceptor to pharmacy residents and students as assigned and will participate in Medical Center and Departmental committees and promote institution-wide medication use policy.

Be able to provide medication counseling in the pharmacy and at the patient's bedside. Be a self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideas; and a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization. Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment, and accountability. Must be able to work variable shifts to include weekends, holidays and overtime as required. Must be willing to rotate to all pharmacy areas/sites.

Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacy state and federal regulations; interpersonal and customer service skills; supervisory skills to include workload management; ability to operate computer systems; demonstrate teaching skills and writing skills. Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences. Work with the physicians and the pharmacy billers to provide justification for obtaining authorization for medications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree; or equivalent clinical experience.

  • Registered Pharmacist issued by the state of California (RPH).

  • Incumbents can meet the minimum experience qualifications for this position in 1 of 3 ways:1) possesses a PGY 2 or 2) possesses a PGY 1 plus 1 year of pharmacist experience, or 3) possesses 4 years of pharmacist experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two (2) years of experience working in an HIV/AIDS care, specialty pharmacy.

  • Experience with HIV/AIDS medications, including billing copay cards, leveraging Patient Access Programs, and other copay support programs, when applicable.

  • Experience using an adherence packaging machine.

  • Five (5+) or more years of retail pharmacy experience.

  • 340b regulatory knowledge and background.

  • Flexible to address any pharmacy need that may arise, especially those that are unexpected or sudden.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $190,488 - $225,337 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $91.23 - $107.92

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
