Works independently, supervising hourly team members to ensure that complete and accurate physical inventories are completed in the retail units.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Oversee the recruitment, training and onboarding of new Inventory Team Members for the Grand Rapids North Inventory Crew.

  • Write period inventory schedule for assigned stores, ensuring completeness across all stores/departments.

  • Effectively prioritize work activities.

  • Make daily work assignments for departments being inventoried to ensure that complete and accurate counts of product are achieved.

  • Establish and document that an accurate cut-off of merchandise has been achieved between the store receiving area and the departments being inventoried.

  • Verify that established procedures for inventory data collecting and transmitting are being maintained.

  • Review item Exception Reports with the appropriate store leadership, for validity of physical counts.

  • Conduct recounts of items when warranted.

  • Review the inventory Totals Report for reasonableness with store leadership.

  • Maintain and report an accurate record of time worked for each hourly crew team member.

  • Communicate timely reporting (as required) on the condition and preparation of the departments inventoried, indicating compliance or non-compliance with established criteria.

  • Complete or lead team to complete ad hoc projects that arise from time to time.

  • Daily travel to Meijer stores in the Grand Rapids markets is required. This position also requires occasional overnight travel with costs covered by Meijer. Overnights include three trips to UP stores requiring three consecutive overnights each.

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 5 years of experience in retail or inventory management.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with inventory management systems and data analytics tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to drive process improvements

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate across multiple departments.

  • Ability to educate other team members with the required job knowledge and skills, informing and teaching about what is expected.

  • Ability to delegate authority and responsibilities effectively.

  • Ability to promote and maintain positive attitudes toward our department and company objectives.

  • Ability to promote and maintain cooperation among individuals and departments.

  • Flexibility in dealing with urgent requests and/or projects.

  • Good time management, organization and decision making skills.

  • Ability to set work goals and objectives.
