Position Summary:

The Material Handler I is responsible for ensuring that our production lines continue to operate effectively. While working independently, yet still collaboratively, this position plays an integral role in our organization and our commitment to providing high quality products & exceptional customer service to our internal, and external customers.


As a manufacturing Material Handler I, you will play a crucial part in moving and transacting material, in either a line or forklift support role, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the production line. Our material handlers use several tools to assist in their day-to-day operations including but not limited to: sit-down forklift, standup forklift, cherry pickers, RF Smart guns, tablets, computers, wrap machines, pallet jacks and more.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions of this position require prioritizing and completing all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative in identifying additional job-related tasks to be completed when time permits.

  1. Ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols, promoting a safe working environment for all employees. Completing daily ORM and inspections of equipment.
  2. Safely and efficiently handle materials, components, and finished products throughout the production process. This may involve lifting, carrying, and transporting items using manual or mechanical equipment such as pallet jacks, order pickers or forklifts.
  3. Work closely with Coordinators, and Production Supervisors to ensure the continuous flow of materials and products to the manufacturing lines and warehouse. Assist in setting up, loading/unloading materials, and maintaining proper inventory levels.
  4. Accurate and timely transactions of materials and products used in the production process. Monitor primary inventory levels and replenish as need, reporting shortages, discrepancies to the coordinator & supervisor. Follow lot tracking process for pulling and logging lot traced parts where required.
  5. Identify and communicate material handling issues, such as discrepancies in inventory, damaged goods, or inefficiencies in processes.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized work area & equipment to ensure a safe and efficient working environment. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.
  7. Collaborate with cross functional team members (leadership, coordinators, inventory control, & planning) to achieve seamless material flow and Inventory accuracy.
  8. Provide feedback and suggestions for improving workflow, equipment performance, and overall productivity.
  9. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to material handling and problem-solving techniques. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Finance teams.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  1. HS diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  2. Minimum of 6 months experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Experience utilizing basic computer skills.
  4. Ability to work as line support or forklift support for a minimum of one team.

  5. Ability to operate a minimum of two of the following material handling equipment (i.e. Sit Down Forklift, Stand-Up Reach Forklift, Order Picker, Wave).

Language Skills:

Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in the English language. Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers while providing exceptional quality of work and outstanding customer service.

Mathematical Skills:

Must have mathematical skills equivalent to those required under education requirement.

Standing, Walking, Sitting, Lifting, Carrying, Balancing, Stooping, Reaching, Handling, Talking, Hearing, Acuity-Far, Acuity-Near, Depth Perception, and Field of Vision.

  • Work for extended periods of time in a moving or stationary position in conjunction with completing required job tasks. Must be able to climb on and off a forklift and other equipment frequently as required to perform job duties.

  • Provide intellectually sound and well-reasoned answers, recommendations and solutions to identify business problems, issues and/or questions. Efficiently and quickly analyze, process, manipulate, and accurately record extensive amounts of data (some of which is technical in nature) and other information that serves as the basis for this position.
  • Move to, from and within the designated work area frequently and consistently throughout the workday and regularly throughout our building and/or across Warn-related property site locations, possibly during inclement weather.
  • Use a personal computer or other technology devices frequently and consistently for the purpose of reviewing, analyzing, creating, transmitting, and presenting documents, data and other business-related information.
  • Lift, transport and/or move up to 40 pounds individually and 70 pounds with assistance, frequently each day in the performance of regular duties. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and descending a stepladder may also be required.

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

Ability to work in a shop or warehouse type environment. Team members in this position may be exposed to loud noises from equipment and machinery, cold or hot temperatures, chemicals and vapors, etc. Team members may also occasionally be required to work in an office environment with traditional office lighting and office furniture, as well as consistent and frequent noise, interruptions and other similar distractions.
