A DAY IN THE LIFE:

Partners with Quality Engineering and cross-functional team members to conduct data analysis reports to support post market risk management activities, product monitoring and quality investigations. Define and implement Power BI dashboards, reports and analyses associated with post market surveillance data and metrics that can make data and insights more easily available to non-technical stakeholders. Works with Business Intelligence and IT team members to develop and implement IT solutions to support the company's analytics needs. Collaborates with others in Operations, R&D Quality, Customer Technical Support, Clinical Evaluation, Failure Investigation, Risk Management, Global Post Market Surveillance and other internal groups.

Quality Data Analyst Interns are also responsible for:

  • Collaborates with stakeholders across Tandem's business units to provide scalable reporting and analytics solutions associated with post market surveillance data.
  • Creates interactive and automated Power BI dashboards and data reports.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and other IT professionals to deliver comprehensive data solutions and reports to increase data analysis efficiencies.
  • Provides ad-hoc analyses and written reports as needed.
  • Participates in problem definition and user needs gathering with project teams and business process owners.
  • Facilitates and participates on cross-functional process improvement teams to drive operational quality excellence and cost savings initiatives.
  • Trains cross-functional stakeholders on data use and access.
  • Enables non-technical stakeholders to quickly answer key questions and make better and faster decisions through easy access to data and analytics tools.
  • Assists in incorporating data from multiple sources including product, ERP, CRM, and other business applications to present consolidated views of post market surveillance data.
  • Confirms completion of required training plan before assuming job responsibilities.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.

WHEN & WHERE YOU'LL WORK:

Hybrid: This position is hybrid and open to candidates located in San Diego, California. Equipment for the role will be provided and training will occur onsite and virtually.

Schedule: This position will work Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Experienced with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and effectively use MiniTab or other applicable statistical software.
  • Possess analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Able to effectively convey information related to work product in one on one conversation or in a group.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to present analysis to various stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge of database and reporting tools.
  • Experience creating interactive dashboards using tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience with extracting, transforming, and loading data from various data sources into a single data report.
  • Coding skills in languages such as SQL, Python, or equivalent. Experience with Databricks is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge and application of principles outlined in Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP).
  • Capable of producing, interpreting and analyzing results using statistical methodology, including control charts.
  • Able to assert own ideas and persuade others through effectively consolidating, evaluating, and presenting relevant information.
  • Experience working with large datasets and performing data analysis using statistical methods.
  • Continuously monitor and initiate improvement opportunities with data quality and integrity.
  • Adept at seeing change as an opportunity to improve business performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and flexibility to function in a fast paced and innovative environment.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
  • Able to alter behavior and opinions in light of new information.
  • Knowledge of problem solving methodologies: 5 why's analysis, Cause and Effect diagrams, etc.

Minimum certifications/educational level:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in a Bachelor's degree program in a related field
  • Completion of Junior year in Science or Engineering or a related field, preferred

Minimum experience:

  • Intern experience in related environment, preferred.
  • Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for deviation from accepted practice.
  • Normally follows established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments.
  • Assist in collecting, cleaning and validating data from multiple sources
  • Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and visualizations
  • Perform basic data analysis to identify trends, patterns and anomalies
  • Help document business definitions, metrics and reporting logic
  • Support enhancements to existing dashboards and reports
  • Assist with testing and validation of reports to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Help maintain data quality and reporting standards
  • Work with cross functional teams to understand business requirements
  • Support ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests
  • Assist in preparing presentation materials and summaries for process stakeholders
  • Help document process workflows
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to analytics and reporting efficiency
  • Assist in defining and validating key performance indicators
  • Perform QA checks to validate data accuracy

COMPENSATION:

The starting base pay range for this position is $30.00 - $41.00 per hour. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market.

Please note that is a temporary position. As a temporary employee you will be employed through a staff agency partner. Benefits during your temporary assignment may be provided by the staffing agency. Access to Tandem sponsored benefits is contingent upon conversion from temporary to regular full-time status. Conversion is determined based upon business need and job performance.
