Overview
The English Department at Utah State University invites applicants for three (3) full-time (1.0 FTE), academic-year, 9-month, non-tenure-track teaching positions located at the Logan Campus. These non-renewable positions are designed for early-career teachers who have earned their Master's degree on or after January 1, 2025. The positions are also designed to foster teachers' pedagogical expertise at the onset of their careers and prepare them for more long-term teaching positions.

The start date for the positions is August 1, 2026; the end date is May 15, 2027.

Responsibilities
These positions consist of 100% teaching with a 4-4 course load of first- and second-year composition. The composition courses consist of ENGL 1010: Writing as Inquiry and ENGL 2010: Research and Argument Across Perspectives. These courses emphasize outcomes of rhetorical awareness, critical thinking, information literacy, and composing processes. Teaching is both in person and online. Successful candidates will be expected to complete the online pedagogy training offered by USU Online and the USU Center for Instructional Design and Innovation (CIDI). Temporary Lecturers will also have professional development opportunities to help them transition to long-term teaching positions.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in English or Folklore, received on or after January 1st, 2025; degree requirements must be fulfilled by August 1, 2026.
  • Experience teaching first-year college writing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Coursework and/or specialization in composition.
  • Experience successfully teaching ENGL 1010 and/or ENGL 2010 at USU.
