HDR is looking for an Industrial Market Sector Leader to join our North Carolina Area team. The HDR Industrial Market Sector includes our Oil, Gas and Chemicals, Agribusiness, Mining, and Advanced Manufacturing Practices. The Area Industrial Market Sector Leader will provide leadership for the coordination, stabilization, and growth of HDR's Industrial program in the North Carolina Resources Business Group. This role is accountable for program development, client stewardship, and team alignment, while remaining actively engaged in project delivery. On a day-to-day basis, they will be expected to:

* Provide Industrial Program leadership.
* Lead the development and execution of the NC Industrial strategy aligned with Area and National Market Sector priorities.
* Serve as a connector between Industrial service lines (IWW, Gas, Agribusiness, Advanced Manufacturing) and Area Professional Services teams.
* Translate Area booking goals into realistic, resourced execution plans, rather than individual BD targets.
* Client leadership and stewardship.
* Act as Client Manager for select anchor and strategic clients, based on fit and continuity.
* Partner with National and Regional Industrial Market Sector leadership on shared client ownership and pursuits for larger or multi-area clients.
* Focus on relationship depth, delivery excellence, and repeat work, not cold-call business development.
* Team and capability building
* Mentor and influence building of Industrial-focused and Industrial-supporting project teams across Industrial Service Lines and Cross Sectors.
* Provide execution leadership for complex, multi-discipline Industrial projects.
* Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of key Industrial talent in partnership with Professional Services leadership.
* Support identification and development of effective external teaming relationships to support program growth and to elevate HDR's brand in target markets. This may include developing relationships with industry counterparts and being accountable for HDR's participation in key industry associations.
* Recognize and celebrate Area Market Sector successes and milestones.
* Provide project delivery and technical leadership
* Remain actively involved in project delivery as PM, PIC, or senior advisor, particularly on complex or high-risk Industrial work.
* Support proposal reviews, go/no-go decisions, and project health checks with a focus on risk, quality, and profitability.
* In partnership with Area Professional Services and Project Delivery Leads, reinforce HDR standards around quality, risk management, and profitability.
* Strategy and alignment
* Participate in Market Sector-Area alignment and strategy development for the 2027 planning cycle.
* Lead Market Sector-Area alignment and strategy development for the 2028 planning cycle.
* Help operationalize initiatives identified in the NC Resources Business Group Planning Snapshot related to Industrial growth and cross-sector integration.

Preferred Qualifications
* PE license, local candidates are preferred

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits
  • Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area Managers
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
