Position Summary
To serve as the International Student Activities Coordinator for the Global Education Office (GEO). This person will be the primary point of contact for social events and activities for international students and scholars. This person should be energetic, motivated, self-starter, outgoing and highly organized.
Under the supervision of a GEO staff member, this position will be responsible for coordinating social events for international students and scholars including bi-weekly Social Hour events, up-keep of the online event calendar, coordinate performances for the annual UNM International Festival, plan and report on various cultural trips throughout the year.
Tasks include driving the GEO van and co-planning and chaperoning overnight trips, regular event preparation activities such as reserving venues, getting estimates and communicating with service providers in a timely manner, shopping and running errands off campus for the purpose of set-up and take-down of various programs to be held both on and off campus. The student must enjoy working with a diverse international community; international experience is a plus but not required. Position Requirements:
- Must have a U.S. driver's
license and US driving experience of at least 12 months. - Reliable, consistent, adaptable
and proactive to ensure proper follow-up/ follow-through in event planning and implementation. - Outstanding customer
service. - Ability to communicate effectively
and professionally, both orally and in writing. - Must be an organized,
self-starter that can work independently with limited supervision. - Open-minded and flexible,
capable of creating an inclusive and safe environment for students of diverse backgrounds. - Must maintain a regular work
schedule as much as permissible by program operations. - Comfortable with public
speaking. - Must be available to work
early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required by program operations. - Position requires handling of average-weight objects
up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a
digital calendar and creating flyers on Canva. - Ability to work on a
budget and track spending for student events (includes receipt handling, checking rates, inquiring about incentives, etc.). - Proficiency in Microsoft
Word, PowerPoint and Excel (Photoshop and Banner experience a plus). - Familiarity with the UNM
Student Fee Review Board, a plus. - Knowledge of a second
language is preferred. - Reliable transportation
recommended.
