About the Job

The Business Analyst provides data and technology support for financial aid, scholarships, and student success processes in the OFAS and the broader Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) division. The position works with leadership to support effective processes and is primarily responsible for analyzing, testing, implementing, and monitoring the data and technical infrastructure directly supporting financial aid, scholarships, as well as student information and communication systems used by the BRC. The position is responsible for resolving non-routine problems as they arise, assessing processes for efficiencies and compliance, serving as a resource to Institutional Research and other enrollment services departments, and providing training when the need arises.

Core functions:

  • Data Expertise, Testing, Query Writing (SQL) & Reporting
  • Liaison for OFAS to University of MN entities, Information Technology Systems and Services, Academic Support Resources Information Technology, and Office of Institutional Research
  • Software/Student Information System support and maintenance
  • Create and support online form submission
  • Data loading/exchange with third party vendors

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee & support data needs using integrated information systems (PeopleSoft, UM Data Warehouse, Jadu, National Collegiate Athletic Association compliance, etc.)
  • Support processes and assemble data, verifying accuracy, for staff in OFAS, Orientation, Veterans' Services, other SEM areas, and partner offices, on a regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Create, oversee and support student forms on One Stop (OS) website in collaboration with OFAS program managers, OS, and SEM Marketing.
  • Understand and remain current on Federal, State, and Institutional financial aid and academic regulations/procedures and terminology, to best support staff within the OFAS.
  • Management of data systems security.
  • Work with staff to recommend policy and process changes based on the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Identify systemic issues, make recommendations for enhancements as a result of problem analysis or policy changes
  • Identify, manage, analyze, report and resolve issues associated with core functions, for all clients; communicate changes effectively
  • Offer proactive and timely diagnostic support and problem resolution
  • Write and maintain effective documentation and training materials
  • Participate in OFAS and stakeholder business process discussion, system testing, metric development, and maintenance of enterprise information systems to ensure accurate financial aid records and services
  • Collaborate with other financial aid professionals at the University, U of M system, federal and state agencies and professional organizations, to maintain program integrity and resolve issues
  • Assign work and provide direction to others, as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree plus at least six years of relevant experience, or master's degree plus at least four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher Education Financial Aid experience
  • PeopleSoft campus solutions financial aid module experience
  • SQL, Perceptive Content, Jadu, Salesforce, Slate and Google product experience
  • Experience interpreting regulatory guidance
  • Software Development experience, including requirements gathering, design/development, testing and support.
  • Experience using AI
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $70,986.62 - $75,000.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
