What to Expect

We are looking for a highly driven Wastewater Treatment Plant Engineer to take full ownership of our industrial wastewater operations in support of high-volume manufacturing. This role is critical to maintaining environmental compliance while ensuring zero impact to production.

In addition to wastewater treatment, this position oversees chemical treatment programs for all cooling towers, closed loop systems and ASH houses across the sites , ensuring system performance, reliability, and asset protection.

You will lead a team of 5 technicians, operate in a fast-paced environment, and drive continuous improvements across water systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, takes initiative, and delivers results.


What You'll Do
  • Lead the 24/7 operation of the industrial wastewater treatment plant in Fremont
  • Monitor and optimize treatment processes (metals removal, pH adjustment, filtration, biological systems)
  • Use SCADA, lab data, and field observations to proactively manage system performance
  • Respond rapidly to upsets, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Oversee chemical treatment programs for cooling towers, close loop systems and ASH houses in Fremont, 901 and Lathrop Sites
  • Maintain full compliance with all environmental permits and regulations
  • Own sampling, reporting, and documentation with zero tolerance for violations
  • Lead site readiness for inspections and audits
  • Lead collaboration with all Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for waste discharge operations
  • Lead a high performing team, supervise, coach, and develop a team of technicians

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Chemical, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of experience in operations of industrial wastewater treatment facility
  • Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting treatment systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading or supervising technical teams
  • Strong understanding of process controls, instrumentation, and SCADA systems
  • Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification (Grade IV or higher), or ability to attain within 6 months
  • Familiarity with complex industrial waste streams and advanced treatment technologies

    Expected Compensation
    $130,400 - $234,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
