| Essential Duties & Responsibilities |
The University of St. Francis seeks qualified adjunct instructors to teach College Writing I, the first course in our twosemester firstyear writing sequence, in person on our Joliet campus.
Curriculum: Instructors design and teach College Writing I in alignment with our shared course description, outcomes, and the Illinois Articulation Initiative (C1900). The course introduces students to the writing process, rhetorical analysis, information literacy, academic argument, and citation. Responsibilities: Responsibilities include providing timely and substantive feedback on writing, maintaining an accurate gradebook in Canvas, and answering students' questions. Effective instructors support students through all stages of the writing process and design engaging inclass activities that foster drafting, peer review, revision, and reflection. Additional Teaching Opportunities: Opportunities to teach Introduction to Literature may also be available. These courses introduce students to fiction, poetry, drama, and literary nonfiction, and most sections are in person.

- Prior experience teaching first-year writing
- Available to teach on-campus in Joliet, IL

| Hours/Shift/Work Schedule |
Adjunct instructors may have the opportunity to teach up to six credit-hours per semester, or two courses. The work schedule is based on department needs and semester course schedules. |
| Physical Requirements of Position |
Work performed in classroom settings with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. This sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. |
