HJF is seeking an Administrative Assistant I to perform a wide range of administrative and clerical duties for the University Family Health Center: to manage the front desk of the outpatient family medicine clinic at USU, checking patients in and out, scheduling follow up appointments; to assist in managing schedules, arrange appointments; answers and transfers phone calls. The Administrative Assistant I should possess knowledgeable of business unit policies.

This position will be in support of USU's School of Medicine's Family Health Clinic (SOM-FAM, located in Bethesda, MD.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


  • Manage the front desk of the clinic checking in- and outpatients.
  • Answer phones; takes and delivers messages.
  • Provide information to callers as needed and appropriately.
  • Answer routine questions from callers.
  • Manage paperwork associated with patient enrollment, referrals, and other medical orders.
  • Send and receive correspondence, scan documents into the record.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required; 1 year + of preferred experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to type at least 60 words per minute, operate a word processor or computer, and effectively communicate with a diverse group of people.

  • Have good judgment in resolving problems of limited complexity.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay range for this position is $22.16-$31.56. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
