Job Title: Freight Handler

Job Overview:

The Freight Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of inbound and outbound freight within the warehouse. This role supports daily shipping and receiving operations by loading, unloading, staging, scanning, and organizing materials to ensure on-time delivery and accurate inventory management leading to excellent operational efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Follow all plant safety regulations and OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain certification to operate a powered industrial vehicle.
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using power industrial vehicles.
  • Move outbound freight from designated lanes and into correct trailers for shipping.
  • Move inbound freight to designated bin locations in the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner, and ensure product is transported without incurring damage.
  • Verify quantities and inspect freight for any damage or discrepancies.
  • Accurately scan and document shipments using Masterpack.
  • Secure freight to prevent damage during transport.
  • Maintain organization of designated work areas.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors regarding shipping and receiving priorities.
  • Read and interpret shipping and receiving documentation accurately.
  • Ensures complete and accurate loading and sorting of products to maximize trailer space during shipping duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience as a forklift operator.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with using a computer and hand scanner.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience in logistics/warehousing preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret production tickets, placards, packing slips, and other shipping documents.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
