About This Role

This position works directly with teaching faculty, providing guidance on evidence-based best practices and teaching tools to advance the development of technology-enhanced curriculum including online, hybrid, blended, flex, and face-to-face courses/programs. This position works collaboratively with faculty and colleagues to provide expertise in the planning, development and delivery of high-quality credit and noncredit learning experiences. The incumbent supports university innovation initiatives using instructional design best practices and leading-edge technologies.

This position reports to the K-State Center for Academic Innovation director of instructional design and digital learning. This position serves as part of a team of instructional designers within the Center for Academic Innovation, a unit reporting to the new Office of Academic Affairs and Innovation within the Provost's Office.

Worksite Description

This position is Remote eligible. Remote work is granted at the discretion of the direct supervisor. Additional details about potential hybrid work in this role can be discussed during interviews. An employee who is working remotely must reside within the United States in order to comply with all federal and state laws, filings, or tax requirements.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience.
    The degree requirement ensures candidates possess a strong foundation in learning theory, instructional design methodologies, evidence based practices, and the analytical, ethical, and systems level thinking essential for designing effective, accessible, and outcome driven learning solutions. These competencies are most consistently developed and rigorously validated through the structured curriculum and applied learning experiences characteristic of a formal degree program.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in instructional design or related field (e.g., curriculum design, education,education technology).
  • Ten or more years of higher education or relevant experience
  • Knowledge of principles and practice of instructional design in addition to pedagogy and andragogy.
  • Knowledge of inclusive pedagogies and design.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience performing the duties above in a post-secondary environment including online classroom-based and blended/hybrid courses.
  • Experience with typical instructional design software and systems including LMS (e.g. Blackboard Learn, Canvas) and related software (e.g., web conferencing), online development tools (e.g., Adobe CS), and other instructional tools (e.g., Camtasia, Articulate).
  • Strong commitment to faculty and student success.
  • Experience providing individual and group training.
  • Proven record of organizational and administrative skills including the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Experience effectively working and communicating with a variety of constituents.
  • Excellent judgment, including sensitivity to personal and confidential information.
