Responsibilities
The Dir, Safety & Security ensures a safe and secure healthcare environment for patients, visitors and team members through the direction and oversight of Security and Safety Services within Norton Healthcare. This includes, but is not limited to, providing strategic leadership, advice and counsel in the planning, development and organization of security, safety and emergency management, directing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and offering programs to ensure a safe workplace such as safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction and hazardous material disposal procedures. Key Responsibilities:
Manages and oversees safety and security information collection, evaluation and reporting. Provides the Environment of Care Committee(s) and other stakeholders with information and recommendations. Effectively manages the daily staffing, budgetary and compliance requirements of the department. Builds and maintains a competent and engaged team while managing the department's budget in a fiscally responsible manner. Implements facility safety and security policies through system collaboration. Reviews and recommends changes to policies and procedures in accordance with system and regulatory requirements following consult from matrix lead of Security, Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Develops and manages all safety and security plans. Provides training to staff and leaders, completes inspections and conducts emergency preparedness drills. Ensures all specifications of construction projects are code compliant and meet both safety and security needs.
Qualifications
Required:
- With Bachelors: Five years safety, security, law enforcement, healthcare or military leadership.
- Without degree: Nine years safety, security, law enforcement, healthcare or military leadership; with five years in a leadership role
- Bachelor Degree
Desired:
- Master Degree
- CHOP - Certified Hospital Operations Professional A/B/E OR Certified Healthcare Safety Professional OR Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator
