Valiant is looking for a Joint Event Support Team (JEST) Lead Planner supporting the Collective Joint Training (CJT) contract for the Joint Staff J7 Deputy Directorate Joint Training and Exercises (JS J7 DD JTE) in Suffolk, VA. The CJT contract provides analytical, operational, technical, and administrative support for the execution of all phases of the Joint Training System (JTS) for large joint and combined military exercises. Emphasis is on the five stages of the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) for Joint Staff and Combatant Command (CCMD) exercise events. This position supports the Chairman's Joint Exercise Division (CJExD) for the planning, management, liaison, coordination, and execution of exercises/events. The JEST Lead serves as part of and directs a JEST Planner group for the building of exercise planning schedules, forecasting labor and travel, development of budgets, and facilitation of JELC activities and the completion of contract deliverables. The JEST Lead serves as a senior functional expert in support of Exercise Control Group (ECG) Operations and as an alternate point of contact for a CJExD Desk Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • The Joint Exercise Support Team (JEST) Planner acts in support of the Joint Event Support Team Lead (JEST Lead) to provide planning, management, liaison, and coordination for assigned exercises/events, the joint training system, and special projects.


  • Serves as the alternate point of contact to the JS J7 Joint Exercise Division Desk Officer and/ or Event Planner for contractor support to assigned exercises/events. Builds exercise planning schedules; forecasts labor and travel; assists development of exercise/event budgets; and facilitates as well as monitors Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) progress.


  • Develops and maintains the Team calendar; coordinates team member assignments; deployment; and assists functional area planners as required.


  • The JEST planner must become intimately familiar with the supported organization, JELC processes, and contract deliverables to successfully design, plan, prepare, execute, and assess supported exercises/events.


  • Facilitate exercise meetings, conferences, and workgroup sessions.


  • Position mirrors a senior Field Grade Staff Officer


  • This position includes travel to locations within the supported organization's area of responsibility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Active Secret Clearance, ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. Active TS/SCI preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. (Additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements)

REQIURED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Combined 11+ years between education and direct relevant experience.
  • 7+ years' experience inclusive of the following: Service and joint doctrine experience to include combat, combat support, and combat service support operations.
  • Must have experience with exercises at levels comparable to Joint Task Force, Army Corps, Numbered Air Forces and Numbered Fleet; specifically, the planning, design and execution and assessment of exercises.
  • Ability to: prepare and conduct seminars/work groups; conduct training in large and small groups; conduct post exercise analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office presentation, word processing, spreadsheet, and collaboration applications.
  • Able to travel unassisted to both CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of the task order.
  • Possess a current U.S. Passport.
  • Must be able to obtain a Company Travel Card.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Combatant Command, Joint Task Force, Corps, Division, Wing, or Afloat staff experience.
  • Combatant Command or Joint Staff J7 experience.
  • Extensive experience with operations centers, planning cells, and operational planning teams.
  • Knowledge of the scenario/MSEL development process.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position: On-site, Office environment

Work Week: Monday-Friday (may vary based on mission requirements)

Work Hours: 0800 - 1700 (may vary based on mission requirements)

Overtime: Exempt, but surge efforts as required

Travel: As required, up to 30%
