Airgas Dry Ice is the largest wholesale dry ice distributor to grocery stores in the United States. Penguin Brand Dry Ice is the retail dry ice sales program of Airgas Dry Ice. We serve over 4,000 grocery stores on a direct store delivery basis coast to coast.

The Regional Manager is responsible for the strategic development, administration, and retention of all branch operations leaders and their personal engagement with programs in a defined geographic area. This includes the leadership of all safety programs/direction, profit/loss results, efficiencies, distribution/logistic effectiveness, facilities, fleet readiness, customer service levels, quality control, sales, and human resources.

We are looking for you!

Pay: $125,000 to $135,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Chief People Officer for the region. Support / foster a culture that allows team members to grow & develop individually / collectively while driving increased business & results. Recruit, hire, train, develop, coach, counsel, & discipline employees according to corporate & government policies / procedures. Drive record keeping requirements related to these activities in a timely manner to include: payroll, performance evaluations, safety training, disciplinary actions, job related training, & documentation.

  • Responsible for development, implementation & strategic leadership around best practices of distribution operations, including but not limited to: routing, fuel efficiency, labor hours, inventory control, container tracking efforts. (Safety and customer service are always first priority with all decisions made.)

  • Manage all aspects of safety in partnership with the organizational safety team. Foster a culture that meets the company's goals of a safe, clean, & neat working environment to comply with Federal, State, Local, Corporate safety & environmental regulations at all locations assigned. Ensure all product delivered meets / exceeds QC standards, following specified SOP testing methods before they leave the facility. Work with Plant Management (production) to ensure product ordering to support operations are both timely & efficiently. Supervise maintenance vendors to ensure that distribution equipment is properly maintained & in good working order to ensure our customer's requirements are met at all times.

  • Other areas of leadership & oversight include, but not limited to: interface with regional sales personnel & customers to ensure customer standards are exceeded. Customer experience, satisfaction, retention, pricing controls, etc as prescribed. Manage regional operations to ensure budgetary goals are met or exceeded in relation to sales, average selling price, operating costs, safety, and EBITDA. Forward thinking leadership, strategic planning, and curiosity around efficiencies are a must.

  • Manage special projects as they are assigned by senior management, including IT related rollouts, real estate ventures within the region, risk assessment, training and development, etc.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A working knowledge of SAFETY (DOT, CSA, OSHA, Environmental) and the effects on an operation. This position will be paramount in the development, and continued growth, of the culture within the Region.

  • The ability to create and execute effective strategies and tactics to support the company's direction, that fosters continuous incremental improvement.

  • Leadership skills - Ability to effectively motivate a team to perform to exceed goals and targets, as well as manage directionally.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or related field.

  • 5-6 years of recent experience in the Last-Mile service industry. The majority of this experience must include leading a team in multiple sites across North America with a heavy customer touch in a retail environment as well as managing freight and logistics across the country

  • The candidate must be a high energy, self-confident and self-motivated team player who can communicate with, and relate to people at all levels within the organization.

  • Must possess the ability to work independently, present a positive image, and possess a high level of integrity.

  • Proficient in computer programs such as Google Mail, Calendar, Docs, Slides, Sheets, workbook, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Map Point, and Outlook.

  • Experience with Peoplesoft, GeoTab, Lytx, SAP, Canvas, and other related softwares in and emerging in today's Class-A, Class-B, and Logistics spaces, preferred.

  • Knowledge of current & new technologies, tools, methodologies and industry trends, & experience driving employee training & development initiatives is required.

  • Exceptional verbal skills to effectively present information to employees, managers, customers, and the public to include the ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals

  • The ability to effectively identify and recruit highly effective associates to team and to train and coach them in their responsibilities.

  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; needs to be able to effectively interpret technical data in text (in mathematical or diagram form) and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

  • Exceptional aptitude /understanding of business and financial principles is required. A high level of independence and the ability to make decisions that are supported by sound business practices are must-have skill sets to be successful in this role.

  • The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to think "outside of the box" and to grasp new concepts quickly.

  • Must have the knowledge, as well as the instincts, to effectively build improvements into an organization. Problem analysis and problem resolution at both the strategic and functional levels are critical.

  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills, along with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously must have recent experience managing an organization of significant size both in terms of employee headcount and fleet assets.

  • Must exhibit a high energy, high level of enthusiasm, with a "hands-on style" & a strong work ethic with the capability to adapt to the rapidly changing environment of this fast-paced, service-oriented company.

  • Regulatory & environmental experience is a plus, as is management in a union environment.

  • Must be open to travel on a regional basis (~50% expectation).
