Role Overview: The Director of Core Processing helps shape the credit union's strategy by leading technology initiatives and ensuring smooth operations. The Director of Core Processing and Systems manages the Core Operations team within IT, oversees systems tied to Fiserv DNA, improves processes, ensures compliance, and works to enhance the member experience. Responsibilities:
Department Leadership and Management: Oversee the employees, operations, and performance of the Information Technology Core Operations department. Establish and maintain procedures for daily, monthly, and yearly operations, disaster recovery, backup, and testing, ensuring optimal system reliability and data integrity. Manage and schedule all mandated system upgrades, patches, enhancements, replacements, and upgrades in core and ancillary equipment, coordinating with relevant stakeholders, administering equipment procurement, and minimizing disruptions to ensure continuous service availability and optimal performance. Manage and ensure the satisfactory performance of all core ancillary systems, aligning them with management's expectations, strategic objectives, and agreements. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with NCUA, industry regulations, internal policies, and security standards pertaining to core processing activities, coordinating responses for exams and audits, and achieving a minimum "Satisfactory" rating on internal audits and examinations. Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes, making recommendations for system upgrades or changes to maintain compliance and improve operational efficiency. Process Improvement and Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, and external vendors to identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, automation initiatives, and effective communication strategies, fostering collaboration, streamlining operations, and enhancing the overall member experience. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of core processing operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate measures. Contribute to strategic planning and the development of the credit union's overall operational and technological roadmap. Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with partners and technology providers, negotiating contracts, managing vendor performance, agreements, and billing, ensuring optimal service levels, cost-effectiveness, and all aspects of vendor management related to core banking and ancillary systems.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical education required
- 5-8+ years of core processing operations or relevant experience requires: 2+ years of which must have been in a progressive leadership capacity
- Advanced knowledge of Fiserv DNA platform
- Advanced knowledge of information technology operations and systems
- Proficient understanding of IT infrastructure, support, security and technical support
- Knowledge of systems processing techniques
- Knowledge of computer operations hardware and peripherals
- Familiarity with server room operations and safety protocols
- Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations and procedures
- Skilled in group presentation and public speaking
- Ability to provide supervisory leadership of professional-, intermediate-, and entry-level staff
- Ability to handle multiple and complex deadlines
- Ability to express oneself clearly and articulately both orally and in writing
- Ability to make decisions and take initiative in problem resolution
