This opportunity is a Per Diem Nurse Practitioner day position.

Wellington Regional Medical Center is located in Wellington, Florida.

It is a 235-bed, acute care hospital, owned by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc., a highly respected healthcare management organization.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Certified as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner by the Florida State Board of Nursing, BSN, MSN
  • Current ARNP license in the state of Florida
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS Certification
  • Previous OR experience (minimum 1 year)
  • Basic computer skills
  • CNOR preferred

Role and Responsibilities:

The Surgical Services Nurse Practitioner is a clinical expert in the management of individuals and groups of surgical patients. He / she will manage resources to attain high-quality, cost-effective care ensuring continuity between clinical practice and standards of care. The Surgical Services Nurse Practitioner has acquired knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide the surgical team with assistance within the Operating Room and other similar settings. The development of specific technical skills enables the Surgical Services Nurse Practitioner to assist the surgeon with specific intraoperative procedures. The scope of practice includes utilization of nursing process in performing comprehensive preoperative patient care management, intraoperative surgical first assisting and postoperative patient care management. Intraoperatively, Surgical Services Nurse Practitioner functions interdependently with the surgeon and applies knowledge, skill, and judgment necessary to assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation that yields optimal results for the patient. The Surgical Services NP possesses a wealth of knowledge concerning applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations and uses this knowledge to analyze, direct and facilitate the preoperative, intra operative, and postoperative phases of superior surgical patient care. The Surgical Services NP may interview clients, obtain and record health histories, perform physical and development assessments, order appropriate diagnostic test, diagnose health problems, manage the health care of those clients for which he/she has been educated, provide health teaching and counseling, initiate referrals and maintain health records. The Surgical Services NP works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and all other health care disciplines utilizing an interdisciplinary approach. Must be willing to cross train and float to meet the needs of the institution.
