Title: Mainframe Systems Support

Location: Columbia, SC Partial Onsite: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Onsite, and as Needed.

Duration:11 + Months Contract To Hire

Interviews: In Person

Credit Check must be processed during pre-screens

  • Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm - Onsite is flexible if aligned to early or late hour shifts. No Travel
  • This role may require occasional work outside standard business hours, including early mornings or late evenings.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required periodically based on business needs.



Job Description:

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Management or other job related degree or 4 years of job related work experience or 2 years of job related experience plus an associate's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or other job related degree.


Required Work Experience:

  • 5 years of job related experience in a similarly complex technical organization.


The Team:

  • Deployment Release Service (DRS) Department as Part of Enterprise Delivery Services Organization - The Deployment / Release Services (DRS) team is a high visibility operational delivery group within Enterprise Delivery Services.
  • The team supports commercial releases, weekly implementations, and effort coordination across Mainframe and Distributed systems.
  • Team members rotate responsibilities weekly, ensuring broad exposure to release coordination, validation, reporting, and audit readiness.
  • The culture values precision, collaboration, and reliability, and this role offers strong visibility across Application Development, Validation Services, and senior delivery leadership.
  • Selling points for candidates include exposure to enterprise scale releases, clear process maturity, and meaningful ownership in protecting production stability during some of the most complex release cycles in the organization.

  • Familiarity with Mainframe, Distributed Systems, and Database technologies at a conceptual level.


Day To Day:

  • A typical day is highly operational and coordination focused. The resource starts by reviewing new and in flight requests for application Implementation (EIRs), validating required roles, schedules, and data completeness in the EIR system.
  • Update ServiceNow with approved change request numbers and ensure alignment between EIRs, release calendars, and audit requirements.
  • Throughout the day, the role actively communicates via Outlook and Teams with Application Development, Validation teams, Library Management, and Release stakeholders to resolve gaps, confirm readiness, and track risk.
  • They participate in scheduled operational touchpoints and release coordination meetings, representing our status and ensuring SLA adherence.
  • On release days or high volume weeks, the role generates coordinated timelines and performs production validation followups, ensures required attestations are captured, and supports reporting for management and audit consumption. This role is coordinating, validating, updating, and supporting-not coding or engineering.


Soft Skills:

  • Strong Communication Skills - Daily interaction with multiple teams; must clearly articulate status, gaps, and risks in writing and meetings. Critical for audit and SLA compliance.
  • Attention to Detail - Small data errors can create audit findings or release risk; accuracy is essential.
  • Adaptability & Calm Under Pressure - Release volume fluctuates heavily during peak periods (e.g., NPR, Open Enrollment).
  • Accountability / Ownership Mindset - The role owns follow?through on assigned efforts and weekly operational coverage.
