Job Details

ChristianaCare is seeking a detail-oriented Receiver II to support our Food & Nutrition team at the Newark campus. This role is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and distributing food and supply deliveries while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with safety standards. The Receiver II plays a key role in maintaining inventory integrity and supporting daily operations across the department.

Location: ChristianaCare - Newark Campus
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Status: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and inspect all incoming food, beverage, and supply deliveries for accuracy and quality

  • Verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips; resolve discrepancies as needed
  • Ensure all items meet safety, sanitation, and storage standards (including temperature checks)
  • Label, date, and properly store inventory according to departmental guidelines
  • Maintain organized storage areas, including dry storage, refrigerators, and freezers
  • Rotate stock using FIFO (first-in, first-out) method
  • Enter receipts and inventory data into system (as applicable)
  • Communicate with vendors, purchasing, and leadership regarding order issues or shortages
  • Assist with inventory counts and support departmental audits
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant receiving area
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years of receiving experience in hospital or other food service operation.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
  • Knowledge of computer systems (including Word and Excel), purchasing, inventory control and HACCP, OSHA, and Department of Health standards.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
  • Ability to examine contents and compare records to verify accuracy of shipments.
  • Ability to confer and correspond with representatives to rectify problems.
  • Ability to monitor inventories, perform bookkeeping duties and use computerized inventory/bookkeeping
  • systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain interactions with department staff and external staff.
  • Skill in effectively communicating and conveying information to others.

This position has a starting rate of $19.36 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $22.69 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $23.79 per hour. This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
