San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization with two front doors: the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. We integrate wildlife health and care, science, and education to develop sustainable conservation solutions.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Work & Family Programs Business Partner is responsible for administration of leave of absence programs, workplace accommodations, workers compensation and other work-life initiatives. This position reports to the Work & Family Programs Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO



  • Leave of Absence Management: Acts as the main point of contact, working closely with team members and management to efficiently and fairly process all leaves of absence ensuring compliance with state and federal leave laws (FMLA/CFRA/ADA) and SDZWA provided leaves of absence.
  • Interactive Process Lead: Successfully supports team members and management through the Interactive Reasonable Accommodation Process, following ADA standards. Make decisions related to continuing employment, separation and job reassignment in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Workers Compensation: Ensures all workers' compensation claims are handled and reported in a prompt and legally compliant manner. Act as the liaison between injured team members, workers compensation insurance providers and other relevant parties. Support team members with the return-to-work process, including coordinating accommodations and a smooth transition back to work.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement employee education initiatives to improve understanding and utilization of benefits and wellbeing programs.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR JOB EXPERIENCE



  • At least one year of experience in human resources required.
  • Some team member relations experience required.
  • Experience with Dayforce preferred.



EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree in human resources, business or related field preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Human Resource Management (PHR/SHRM) preferred.



SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE



  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state leaves laws regarding FMLA, CFRA, ADAAA, and the Affordable Care Act.
  • Ability to maintain exceptional confidentiality surrounding employee issues regarding personal health information (PHI).
  • Able to navigate complex topics with a high level of tact and diplomacy.
  • Acts professionally internally and externally to proactively promote SDZWA as an Employer of Choice.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with various deadlines.
  • Committed to delivering high-quality and timely service, exceptional problem solver, thoughtful with a high degree of empathy, and exceptional follow-through.

About The Salary Ranges


The posted salary range represents the full compensation potential for this role over time. Initial hiring offers are typically made within the lower to mid portion of the range and are based on a combination of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and organizational considerations. Placement near the top of the range is generally reserved for individuals who demonstrate sustained performance, growth, and expanded responsibilities in the role over time.
