What You'll Do:

  • Perform aggregate lab testing in collaboration with technical team members and in accordance with applicable industry standards.

  • Assist in populating the quarry material quality database to ensure that each product meets DOT and industry quality specifications.

  • Catalog existing engineering specifications to ensure the quarry material quality database meets all DOT and industry needs.

  • Ensure tasks on the lab testing schedule are completed properly and on time.

  • Become familiar with industry standards and work to develop and implement procedures in the lab to be in compliance with those standards.

  • Coordinate with the technical team and production team members to collect samples for testing as required.

  • Implement lab maintenance and equipment calibration procedures. Ensure these are performed properly and on time per the lab schedule.

  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment. This responsibility includes the operation of a forklift.

  • Must be punctual, dependable, and have the ability to follow instructions.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree with a strong emphasis in math and science, such as Civil Engineering, Geology Concrete Industry Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar related field.

  • Experience in the aggregate, asphalt, concrete or construction industry preferred.

  • Communication skills (writing/verbal) - Ability to summarize and explain methods and data legibly, accurately, and professionally.

  • Computer skills - Functional skills in MS Office products, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Mathematical skills - Ability to accurately record test measurements, understand the mathematical formulas associated with the tests, and calculate test results in accordance with test procedures.

  • Possession of or willingness to obtain applicable industry and DOT aggregate testing certifications.

  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required.
