Job Title: Research Associate - Biologics Inventory - Discovery Sciences & Technologies

Location: Foster City, CA

Duration: 5+ Months

Work Arrangement: Onsite | 5 days/week | Local candidates only

Description

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Biologics Inventory team to bring a library of legacy biologics current. Discovery Sciences & Technologies (DST) supports lead identification and optimization efforts in Research. This position in the Sample Management group is located in a state-of-the-art Research facility at Gilead's Foster City, CA campus.

This is a great opportunity for a lab scientist to use their biology and biochemistry training to help manage our biologics inventory. Our group is highly collaborative, and we support all our research and exploratory projects across several therapeutic areas including virology, inflammation, oncology, and respiratory disease.

Knowledge, Experience And Skills

  • The successful candidate will use defined workflows to audit our biologics inventory. The audit will include updating sample storage locations and reconciling discrepancies.
  • The role also entails working in a Biological Safety Cabinet to reformat individual samples into appropriate labware for long-term storage. Familiarity with aseptic technique is required. Work with biologics entails maintaining proper handling to preserve sample quality.
  • The candidate in this lab-based role should have a strong background in Biology or Biochemistry. Excellent organizational and time management skills are essential. Attention to detail is critical to maintain accurate inventory information.
  • The candidate will work closely with their manager and provide weekly progress reports. Teamwork and excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical.



Key Responsibilities

* Perform audit of current biologics inventory

* Apply rules for reformatting samples and consolidating storage containers as required

* Record and update inventory daily

* Use automation, liquid handlers, instrumentation, LIMS, and inventory management tools

* Accountable to meet established timelines

Education and Experience

* BS with 2 years experience in Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline

* Detail oriented, well organized, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills

* Strong working knowledge of sample management, sterile technique, and logistics

* Demonstrated proficiency with sample preparation using various liquid handlers and dispensers (Echo, Bravo, Biomek, i7, etc.)

* Strong team orientation; highly collaborative and flexible

* Resourceful and open to diverse points of view
