System Integration Engineer, Solar Products

To ensure Tesla's overall mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy, the Tesla Energy team is bringing our world-leading battery technology to the grid. Tesla is leveraging its breakthrough firmware, electronics, test, and manufacturing capability to develop and deploy grid-connected storage at residential, industrial, and utility levels.

Tesla Energy is seeking a System Integration Engineer to perform hardware and firmware integration, validation, and testing of Tesla's solar energy products, including PV inverters and solar panels. You will support system-level hardware and firmware validation, automated regression testing, and firmware release activities across solar products.

• Perform end-to-end hardware and firmware integration and validation of Tesla's solar energy products, including PV inverters, solar panels, and MPPT and safety functionalities
• Execute system-level firmware validation, regression testing, and firmware release support
• Develop and execute test plans to validate hardware, firmware functionality, and features against system and product specifications
• Develop and maintain automated regression test suites using Python
• Own system bring-up, prototyping, and hardware characterization of solar energy products
• Debug and resolve hardware and firmware integration issues across complex PV systems
• Conduct failure analysis on test and field failures to identify root cause and drive corrective action
• Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, hardware, and systems engineering teams to ensure functional, performance, safety, and compliance requirements are met
• Drive continuous improvement in design and performance by providing data-driven feedback to design owners
  

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience in hardware and firmware integration and validation
• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals
• Experience with Python, C, or C++
• Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering components and an understanding of how they interact in a complex product
• Proficiency with EE lab tools (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, CAN tools)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and surface issues within complex hardware/software systems
• Effective communicator with excellent attention to detail
• Preferred: Experience with solar PV systems, including PV inverters, rapid shutdown devices, solar panels, and DC optimizers
