Located in Augusta, GA our 84-bed facility provides a therapeutic setting for those seeking treatment for mental illness. The Certified Teacher educates students and administers policies and procedures relating to all phases of education in accordance with current state and federalspecial educationstandards. For additional information visit www.uhs.com. Qualifications Education:Bachelor's Degree or higher in Education or related field. Experience: A minimum of three years related experience. Knowledge of educational theories and classroom teaching strategies with a good understanding of education and therapeutic intervention. License: Valid teaching credentials and credentials to teach exceptional children. Certified as a teacher by the State of Georgia required. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR certification. Successful completion of Handle With Care (HWC) training prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 90 days of employment.Knowledge of current professional Education practice and techniques applicable to the care of severely behaviorally disabled students. Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the same. Analytical skills necessary to observe educational practice as well as observe and interpret human behavior accurately. Has the ability on a consistent basis, to organize and conduct educational classes/groups, direct student needs (individually and as related to on the student's IEP), provide appropriate documentation. Knowledge of developmental stagespreferred.
