Our lab is primarily focused on understanding how the regulatory activities of transcription factors are affected by cell-specific chromatin environments. The postdoctoral research project will develop concept-based neural network interpretability approaches that can interpret the biologicaldeterminants of regulatory genomics signals. We will apply these techniques in collaborative projects to understand regulatory dynamics in cell differentiation systems. The Mahony lab is part of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the main campus of The Pennsylvania State University (see http://mahonylab.org). We are core members of the Center for Eukaryotic Gene Regulation and the Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, which offer excellent environments for pursuing postdoctoral research in regulatory genomics. Prior experience developing neural network applications and/or developing regulatory genomics analysis methods is required. A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required. Interested individuals should upload their curriculum vitae, contact details for three scientific/professional references, and a personal statement of background and interests. BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.BENEFITS Penn State provides a competitive benefits package for full-time employees designed to support both personal and professional well-being.For more detailed information, please visit ourBenefits Page.
