Stout's Corporate Restructuring & Insolvency team is hiring an Analyst, Corporate Recovery Services to advise distressed companies, lenders, and creditors through some of the most complex financial situations a business can face. Our professionals are embedded with clients during bankruptcy proceedings, debt restructurings, and turnaround situations - bringing deep technical accounting expertise and operational credibility to drive meaningful outcomes.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Advise distressed companies, lenders, and creditor committees navigating bankruptcy or out-of-court restructuring proceedings

  • Audit and analyze financial statements; assess the viability of individual business units under various restructuring scenarios

  • Build and maintain cash flow forecasts, liquidity models, and 13-week cash models during active crisis situations

  • Support Fresh-Start accounting (ASC 852) implementation - from planning and systems readiness through validation

  • Negotiate with lenders, secured creditors, and other stakeholders to restructure debt and resolve claims

  • Conduct technical accounting research and produce clear, accurate client-ready deliverables

  • Engage directly with senior client management and external advisors in meetings, working sessions, and court proceedings

  • Manage components of multiple concurrent engagements; train and support junior team members as applicable

  • Expand professional expertise through formal training, mentorship, and daily client interaction

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Financial Modeling & Analysis

Expertise building cash flow forecasts, liquidity models, and distressed-company analyses using Excel and/or SQL. Ability to surface insights that drive restructuring decisions.

Negotiation & Stakeholder Management

Skilled at engaging lenders, creditors, and legal counsel during complex negotiations. Able to represent clients effectively in high-stakes, time-sensitive restructuring environments.

Bankruptcy & Regulatory Knowledge

Familiarity with U.S. bankruptcy codes, Fresh-Start accounting (ASC 852), Plan of Reorganization processes, and the operational demands of pre- and post-emergence entities.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in financial audit, accounting advisory, or financial reporting

  • CPA / CA certification, or meaningful progress toward completion

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship

  • Ability to travel up to 10%, depending on client and engagement requirements

PREFERRED

  • Experience with Fresh-Start accounting (ASC 852) or purchase accounting (ASC 805)

  • Working knowledge of the U.S. bankruptcy process and restructuring lifecycle

  • Advanced financial modeling skills; experience with SQL or data analytics tools a plus

  • CTP (Certified Turnaround Professional) or CIRA (Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor)

  • Experience advising distressed companies, lenders, or creditors' committees

  • Strong problem-solving instincts; track record of navigating complex, ambiguous situations
