What to Expect
The Battery Engineering Lab's (BEL) Buyer Tech for the High-Voltage Battery Design Engineering Team ensures all parts are on hand to enable validation testing of new cell & pack technologies at light-speed. As a key member of our team, this role is responsible for driving part sourcing, inventory, supplier relations, and logistics for essential material. The team runs multiple projects in parallel for both Tesla's electric vehicles & energy products - so this buyer must be highly organized, detail oriented, and execute quickly as well as being a strong communicator, active listener, and a team player. Our Battery Engineering Lab works on early-stage designs with the possibility for frequent direction changes reinforcing the need of a buyer who is flexible, resilient, a quick learner and enthusiastic about new technologies.

What You'll Do
  • Track part quantities & locations, keep trackers up to date, manage stock and ensure optimal inventory
  • Process RFQ, negotiate prices, place purchase requisite, schedule logistics, and manage delivery with potential of expedite management for tight timelines
  • Communicate clear-to-build statuses, material consumption/inventory & run-out dates
  • Identify and improve our processes - onboard and train new suppliers, optimize logistics, make us more efficient Document part costs and work with BEL TPM to track test assembly BOM costs across programs
  • Maintain BOM accuracy in our catalogue across design changes for each program
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders and timely escalation of issues as needed
  • Build partnerships with our suppliers, be their primary interface on delivery status, issues, and resolution

What You'll Bring
  • Proven hands-on experience sourcing parts & managing inventory
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft applications, especially excel & email programs
  • Experience creating reports or status updates for peers & management
  • Self-directed with effective verbal and written communication to multi-disciplinary and cross functional teams, domestic and international vendors
  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping & organizational skills
  • Capable of safely lifting and handling up to 45 lbs.
  • Forklift certification desired, but not required
  • Experience working safely with hazardous materials; formal safety training or certification is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering and/or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability
  • A desire to increase the effectiveness of your teammates

    Expected Compensation
    $72,000 - $132,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
