THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking a Maintenance Repairman 2 who is ready to take on a variety of outdoor maintenance and repair tasks. This role supports Clear Creek Forest District and helps ensure its buildings, equipment, and forest areas remain in top shape. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports daily operations that keep Clear Creek Forest District safe, functional, and well maintained. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Facility Upkeep: Perform maintenance tasks on buildings, systems, trails, and signage across district property
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and care for tools, vehicles, and specialized equipment used in repair and maintenance work
  • Infrastructure Repair: Complete carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry work to keep structures and systems in good condition
  • Road Maintenance: Use assigned equipment to clear debris, maintain drainage areas, and repair State Forest roads
  • General Support: Assist with snow removal, security needs, supply transport, and other district operations
  • Vehicle Care: Conduct routine servicing such as oil changes, tire rotation, and troubleshooting on district vehicles

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, full-time employment with no health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically return to employment in March 2027.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Wednesday, and 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
