Job Summary

We are seeking a Data Center Technician with foundational experience in structured cabling and data center environments. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for individuals who have gained hands-on cabling experience and are looking to build a long-term career in the telecom and low-voltage industry. The technician will support the installation, maintenance, and testing of structured cabling systems, infrastructure hardware, and data center equipment while working under the guidance of experienced team members and project leads.

Job Responsibilities




  • Perform structured cabling installations, including fiber and copper cable routing, rough-in, dressing, and organization.



  • Terminate and test fiber and copper cabling under moderate supervision.



  • Rack, stack, and install network equipment, including server hardware and rack elevations.



  • Install infrastructure components such as ladder racks, fiber trays, cabinets, and related hardware.



  • Read and follow blueprints, installation standards, and project documentation.



  • Assist with Outside Plant (OSP) fiber installations entering data center environments.



  • Receive, organize, and inventory project materials.



  • Assemble and install hardware components as required.



  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.



  • Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, supervisors, and project leads.




Job Requirements




  • High School Diploma or GED required.



  • 1-2 years of experience in a data center, structured cabling, or commercial cabling environment.



  • Basic knowledge of fiber and copper cabling, termination methods, and testing procedures.



  • Familiarity with structured cabling standards and installation best practices.



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.



  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and develop technical skills.



  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.



  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds.



  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.



  • Must provide and maintain basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, snips, punch tool, pliers, tape measure, flashlight, tool pouch, and steel or composite toe work boots.




Education




  • High School Diploma or GED required.




Work Experience




  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a data center, commercial cabling, or structured cabling environment.



  • Previous experience with fiber or copper cabling installations preferred.

  • Extensive overtime and weekend work may be required based on project demands.



  • Typical schedules may include shifts beginning at 10:00 AM and extending to 8:00 PM-10:00 PM.
