Job Description:

Central State Hospital is seeking a Director of Psychology.

Director of Psychology Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Manages psychology department including recruiting, hiring, and supervising psychologists, provides clinical consultation and competency assessment, assists in developing and implementing behavior plans, and in-services staff.

  • Coordinates student training programs including practicum and pre-doctoral internships.

  • Delivers patient care services as consistent with clinical degree and service needs.

  • Monitors/reviews psychology department activities and documentation to assure compliance with standards, initiatives, and practices.

  • Collaborates with senior management regarding competency issues.

  • Responsible for developing performance indicators for the psychology department.

  • Chairs and serves on hospital committees as assigned.

  • Monitors and participates in departmental and hospital-wide performance improvement and strategic planning programs.

  • Serves as administrator on-call as scheduled.

  • Court liaison: works with court and assists staff in dealing with legal issues. Responsible for competency evaluations and supervision.

  • Ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

  • Prepares and presents reports to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Conducts staff training and professional development activities.

  • Maintains accurate and confidential client records

Director of Psychology Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be licensed as Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Kentucky.

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Psy.D or Ph.D. in Kentucky.

  • Several years of experience in managing a psychology team.

  • Proven track record in program development and execution.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.

  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and policies.
