Summary:

The Catering Supervisor oversees catering and special events for the hospital. They are responsible for the organization, set up, delivery and cleanup of requested catering services. They will provide prompt, attentive and courteous service with an overall goal of providing the highest level of customer service to all. Additionally, they will oversee day-to-day operations of the Food Service Department to ensure the operation runs smoothly.

Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates all daily and routine responsibilities of the catering functions. Communicate and assign responsibility for specific work or activities to teammates.

2. Serves as a point of contact for the customers by answering questions, assisting with ordering through CaterTrax and potential planning for future service needs. Frequently checks catering emails and CaterTrax to review requested food and services needed, as well as dates, times and other details.

3. Organize each delivery timely, setting up all non-perishable items needed in advance. Distributes needed food preparation requirements to each food department in advance.

4. Delivers requested food and beverage to the delivery location, setting up all food and beverage

in a professional appearance and logical manner, ensuring all condiments and service ware are available as needed.

5. Ensure all services are cleaned up at the end of the meeting or requested pick-up time.

6. Ensures availability of any specialty linen, china and rental needs in advance.

7. Maintains organization of all daily and weekly services and associated needs, and communications with customers.

8. Maintains a clean and organized working environment and professional appearance.

9. Finalizes catering invoices and billing pertaining to delivered services.

10. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the department.

11. Manage all frontline staff, ensuring all responsibilities are completed.

12. May assist with stocking food inventory.

13. May carry and distribute supplies and equipment.

14. May assist others in the preparation of foods and proper storage of food.

15. May operate dishwasher or assist with washing dishes, glassware, silverware, utensils, pots and pans.

16. Responds to complaints regarding food or service.

17. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

18. Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times. Works to ensure satisfaction in areas such as quality, service and problem resolution.

19. Complies with all hospital safety and risk management policies and procedures, as well as all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.

20. Assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all teammates.

21. Assists in monitoring employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service or productivity.

22. Responsible for orientation and training of teammates. Promotes the development of the food service team.

23. Attend all required or recommended training including allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.

24. Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.

25. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

26. Serves as a resource and role model for teammates.

27. Presents self in a highly professional manner to others at all times and understands that honesty and ethics are essential. Maintains professional relationships with all teammates, vendors, managers, and customers.

28. Keeps manager informed of any issues, concerns, or problems.

29. Provides input to 90-day and annual performance evaluations.

30. Able to work a flexible schedule to meet the coverage needs of the department, including nights, weekends and some holidays.

Other information:

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required, any higher education from an accredited college will supersede this requirement.

Licensure/Certification

HACCP training and ServSafe certification within 90 days of hire.

Experience

* Prior experience in a catering role preferred.

* Prior supervisory experience preferred.
