PUBLIC WORKS LABORER

PUBLIC WORKS LABORER, FULL TIME EDGEWATER BOROUGH, BERGEN COUNTY The Borough of Edgewater is seeking a highly motivated and responsible individual who can easily work with others and accept direction to work as a laborer within the Department of Public Works.

Preference will be given to individuals with prior work experience in the construction trades such as carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and masonry, landscaping, and New Jersey Firefighter 1 and EMT.  Consideration will be given to those with alternative skill sets as long as highly motivated and responsible.

A laborer will be assigned a variety of tasks as instructed by supervisors such as recycling and trash collection, landscaping, parks and playgrounds, building maintenance, road repair and sewer maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and HVAC, tree care, snow removal, etc.  Working under any and all types of weather conditions is a must and available for 24-hour emergency work as needed.

Applicants must possess a valid New Jersey drivers license with a Commercial Class B endorsement, Class A desired and must acquire a tanker endorsement within six (6) months of appointment.

All successful candidates must undergo a full pre-employment physical with drug and alcohol screening, and criminal background check.

Starting Salary $35,000 as per bargaining unit agreement with several step salary guide and comprehensive benefits.
